Israeli is a six-month-old infant from Tanzania. His father works in the mines in Mererani, while his mother, Mary, is a homemaker responsible for caring for the children. Maintaining a decent standard of living has been challenging due to the family’s size, and they rely on only two meals per day. Since he was born, Israeli has faced issues with his right foot. His foot is twisted right and downwards. Although he is not at the walking stage in his development now, his foot will make it difficult to walk when he does reach that stage. For the past four months, Mary has traveled from one care center to another seeking out treatment for Israeli but was unable to find help until she heard about our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Mary traveled over 300 kilometers (about 186 miles) from her village to Arusha, Tanzania to visit AMH's care center. Doctors at AMH's care center diagnosed Israeli with clubfoot. To rectify the angle of his foot, Doctors will manipulate and stretch the tissues around the foot, then apply a cast to hold the corrected position. Following this, Israeli will undergo tenotomy surgery, where surgeons will length his Achilles tendon. Surgeons at AMH's care center will perform these procedures on June 9th. Now, AMH is requesting $935 to fund Israeli's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk easily once he reaches a walking stage. Israeli's mother says, "I wish my son gets better like his older sibling and grows up to have a good life ahead."

Lang is a 57-year-old rice farmer from Prey Veng province in Cambodia. She is married and has one son, one daughter, and three grandchildren. She and her husband live with their daughter, who is still in school. Lang's husband works on the farm with her and he also drives a moto-taxi to make ends meet. Five years ago, Lang developed a pterygium in her left eye. As a result, she now experiences itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Her progressive vision loss makes it difficult for her to watch her favorite shows and she is embarrassed by the way her eye looks. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, a mucous layer that lubricates the eye. The growths occur when the conjunctiva is exposed to excessive sunlight, which causes cells to grow abnormally over the pupil. When Lang learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours, hoping to receive treatment. On May 4th, Lang will undergo a surgical procedure at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. During the procedure, the abnormal conjunctiva will be removed from the surface of the cornea and replaced with a conjunctival graft, which should prevent a recurrence. The total cost of her procedure is $225, which will cover the medications, supplies, and inpatient care for two days. Lang needs your help to fund her procedure. Lang said: "I hope after surgery the irritation and tearing in my eye will stop, and I can go back to growing rice and doing housework."

Gabriel is a 21-year-old college student and the only child of a single mother, who works as a teacher in their town. Gabriel is currently in college at Meru, roughly 100 kilometers away from his mother's home, where he is studying electrical engineering. His mother cares for Gabriel and has paid for him to go to school. She also cares for Gabriel's grandparents. Gabriel is looking forward to the day when he can support his mother and care for this family. Gabriel used to ride his bike to school. Unfortunately, on June 23rd, as he was biking to school he lost control of his bike when he was going downhill and had a severe accident. He was taken to Meru General Hospital, where an x-ray revealed a compound fracture of the tibia on his right leg. On June 24th Gabriel was transferred to Nazareth Hospital, the hospital of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), which was closer to Gabriel's home in Kimbo. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner quickly diagnosed the issue Gabriel was having and created a treatment plan. On July 3rd, Gabriel will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. Post-surgery, Gabriel will be able to heal properly and walk and bike again without support. AMH is now requesting $1,049 to help fund this procedure. Gabriel said, “I was going on well with my education but this accident makes me feel disappointed. I seek help so that I can be operated on and hope that as soon as my leg is healed, I can go back to college and create my own future.”
