Pisey is a nine-year-old student. She has one sister and two brothers.
Three years ago, Pisey had a severe ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Pisey experiences pain, hearing loss, and ear discharge. She cannot communicate clearly with others and she is in chronic pain.
Pisey traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On October 26th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $464 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
Pisey says, “I really hope my pain will go away and I can hear and feel better at school.”

Pisey underwent myringoplasty ear surgery so she can hear and feel better at school.
Pisey and her family traveled three hours to Children’s Surgical Centre to have treatment. The operation was successful, and she is on her way to a full recovery! Pisey will no longer have to miss school and her pain has disappeared. She won’t be embarrassed about ear discharge, and students at school won’t make fun of her.
Her mother said: “we’re relieved that Pisey can be a normal child again and not miss school. She can hear better and her pain is gone. Thank you for helping us have a better life.”
