Tumushabe is a farmer from Uganda. She is a married mother to five children, all in school in both primary and secondary levels. She earns a living through practicing small-scale farming and oftentimes in other people’s gardens to earn a daily wage to help with urgently needed basics like soap and salt. Her husband is a charcoal maker.
Since four years ago, Tumushabe has been experiencing pain and heavy abdominal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $208 to fund Tumushabe’s surgery. On April 24th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Tumushabe will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Tumushabe says, “I hope to get well after my surgery so as to continue with cultivation and supporting my family.”
