Kemirembe is a teacher and a mother of four, with two daughters and two sons, all of whom are in school. She loves coaching and teaching her children especially now as schools are closed due to Covid-19. Together with her husband, they are primary school teachers in a school close to their home. They have a small farm which they use to harvest produce for their own family. For 6 months, Kemirembe has been experiencing abnormal bleeding, along with headaches and back pains. She is afraid she could become anemic. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $219 to fund Kemirembe's surgery. On July 13th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Kemirembe will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Kemirembe says, “I hope that once I'm operated under your support, I will regain my health and teach with even more efforts after our schools open."

Kyasimire is a 37-year-old small scale farmer who works on her farm together with her husband to provide for their five children. They make a humble income to see their children through school and also meet necessary medical costs. For some time now, Kyasimire has had a submandibular mass. The mass is swollen, disfiguring her mandible, and she is worried about the gradual increase in size. She is also afraid of the health implication it might bring if left untreated. Kyasimire had been to a different facility in 2020 and was recommended to undergo surgery. However, the cost was too much for her to afford at the time. At Rushoroza Hospital, she was recommended to undergo the same surgery and was fortunately linked with our medical partner and Watsi for support. On June 10th, surgeons will remove the mass from her jaw. Now, Kyasimire needs help to raise $145 to fund this procedure. Kyasimire shared, “I pray that I may have a successful surgery. I will resume farming as soon as possible because it is the major source of our family’s income to support our children.”

Tumushabe is a farmer from Uganda. She is a married mother to five children, all in school in both primary and secondary levels. She earns a living through practicing small-scale farming and oftentimes in other people’s gardens to earn a daily wage to help with urgently needed basics like soap and salt. Her husband is a charcoal maker. Since four years ago, Tumushabe has been experiencing pain and heavy abdominal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $208 to fund Tumushabe's surgery. On April 24th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Tumushabe will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Tumushabe says, “I hope to get well after my surgery so as to continue with cultivation and supporting my family.”

Sohaila is an eight-year-old girl living in Tanzania with her parents and three siblings. She is an active child but is also very shy. Sohaila was born with clubfoot of her left foot, the inward and upward bending of her foot, but never received treatment. Due to her condition, it is painful to walk and stand, making daily life and her commute to school very difficult. Seeking treatment through our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, Sohaila is scheduled to receive surgery to correct her clubfoot on July 11. Her family is requesting $890 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Sohaila is excited for the surgery and says, “I will be very thankful if I get treated and being able to attend school properly. I will be able to help out with home activities again and live my dreams life.”
