Tumushabe is a farmer from Uganda. She is a married mother to five children, all in school in both primary and secondary levels. She earns a living through practicing small-scale farming and oftentimes in other people’s gardens to earn a daily wage to help with urgently needed basics like soap and salt. Her husband is a charcoal maker. Since four years ago, Tumushabe has been experiencing pain and heavy abdominal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $208 to fund Tumushabe's surgery. On April 24th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Tumushabe will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Tumushabe says, “I hope to get well after my surgery so as to continue with cultivation and supporting my family.”

Phannaroth is a two-year-old boy from Cambodia. He is an only child and, when he is at home, he enjoys playing with his toys, watching cartoons on television, and going for walks with his family in the evening time. Phannaroth was born with syndactyly of both hands. This means that his thumb on his left hand and his four fingers (excluding his thumb) on his right hand are fused together. He is unable to pick things up, and it is difficult for him to move on the ground. Fortunately, on February 24th, surgeons will perform a syndactyly repair procedure to separate and release the fused digits. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $398 to fund this procedure. After surgery, he will feel more comfortable after treatment and he will be able to use both of his hands normally again. Tra is a 20-year-old rubber tree farmer from Cambodia. He is the youngest of four siblings, and enjoys playing soccer, listening to music, and watching television. Six months ago, Tra was in a traffic accident and fractured his lower left leg. After initial treatment at a nearby hospital, Tra's bone is now exposed, and he is unable to walk without support and is in constant pain. When Tra learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On January 9th, surgeons at CSC will perform a skin flap and debridement procedure, as well as an external frame to help his wounds to heal properly and allow him to walk comfortably again. Now, he needs help to fund this $657 procedure. "I hope that my injuries will be able to heal and that I will no longer be in pain and can walk again," he shared.
