Farhat is a five-month-old girl. Her parents are seasonal farmers, working tirelessly to grow crops for food and a small income. To make ends meet, they also rely on casual day jobs whenever opportunities arise.
Farhat was born as a twin, but unlike her sibling, she came into the world with a noticeable difference—her feet were turned inward. Farhat has clubfoot on both feet. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual and this causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes.
Fortunately, Farhat’s family traveled to visit our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on February 14th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Farhat’s clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be able to walk easily and wear shoes when she grows up.
Farhat’s mother shared, “I wish for my daughter to get the right treatment so that she gets to grow up like her twin sister.”
