Magret is 53 years old and a farmer from Malawi. She is a widow with five adult children. Apart from farming, she used to sell charcoal and firewood, which used to give her income for her upkeep.
In December 2025, Magret began to experience troubling symptoms, including neck pains, painful eyes, headaches, and weakness. She visited different hospitals where the given treatment did not change anything. She was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center, where she was diagnosed with a goiter and hyperthyroidism. The thyroid is the gland located in front of your neck and produces thyroid hormones. These hormones are responsible for functions such as metabolism, growth, and other bodily functions. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Magret receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on July 9th. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $1,015, and she and her family need help raising money.
Magret said, “I never thought that a private hospital could support me with surgery. I am looking forward to that day when all shall be fulfilled. Kindly help me to get better. I feel i am a bother to my children, and i just want to be a responsible mother.”
