Deborah is an eight-year-old girl from Thailand. She lives with her mother in Ban Nua, Mae Sot, Tak Province. Her mother is a teacher, and Deborah is in second grade. In her free time, Deborah loves to read as well as to spend time with her mother.
A few months ago, Deborah started to complain about headaches. Two days ago, she started to complain about dizziness. Her mother brought her to visit our medical partner, where doctors suspect she has a brain tumor.
Doctors want Deborah to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which x-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose her condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $414 to cover the cost of Deborah’s CT scan and care, scheduled for February 22.
Her mother says, “Deborah is my only child and I could not stand to see her sick and not able to walk properly. I want to see her grow up healthy.”
