Jailosi is a husband and father of five children from Malawi. For most of his life, 61-year-old Jailosi relied on farming to support his family. His routine, however, came to an abrupt halt when he suddenly began experiencing urinary problems that quickly became severe. The most troubling was urinary retention, leaving him unable to pass urine normally. To relieve the immediate problem, he was catheterised, a measure that has helped manage his symptoms, but has also brought discomfort and disrupted his daily life. Presently, farming work that once sustained his family has been put on hold as he focuses on seeking treatment and managing his health. This has affected his income and also weighed heavily on him emotionally. Hoping for a lasting solution, Jailosi went to our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital, where he was assessed and diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Doctors advised that surgery is needed to correct the problem. While the news brought hope, it also brought concern. Unable to work for months, Jailosi does not have the financial means to pay for the surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $530 to fund the procedure for Jailosi. The treatment is scheduled to take place at Nkhoma Hospital on June 3rd and, once completed, it will hopefully improve Jailosi's quality of life and allow him to get back to work. Jailosi said, “This illness has taken away my ability to work and live normally. I believe that if I receive this surgery, I will finally have peace of mind again. My greatest wish is to recover, return to my farm, and continue caring for my family.”

Sakhr is a newborn baby boy from Tanzania. He is the youngest among three children. His arrival has brought great joy to his parents, who are both small business owners. His father is especially happy to welcome his son and even wanted to give him his own father’s name in honor of his grandfather, creating a meaningful family connection from the very beginning. Sakhr was born with clubfoot on the right foot, a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual. Without treatment, clubfoot can make it difficult for a child to walk comfortably, maintain proper balance, and wear regular shoes as they grow. Starting treatment early provides an important opportunity to gradually correct the position of his foot and support healthy development. Fortunately, Sakhr's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on August 14th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Sakhr's clubfoot repair. After treatment and continued follow-up, Sakhr will have the opportunity to grow, walk, and play comfortably. Sakhr's mother says, "We are grateful that we found help so early. We hope this treatment will give our son the chance to walk normally and grow without limitations.”

Risham is a three-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh, India. He lives with his mother and older brother. His father passed away last year, and his mother, a homemaker, has cared for the family on her own since then. Risham is described as a playful little boy who loves to have fun. When Risham was just one year old, he accidentally put his hand in hot milk, suffering severe burns. As the burns healed, the scarring caused his right index, middle, ring, and little fingers to contract, limiting the use of his hand. He wants to continue school and write, but because of the contracture, he currently uses his left hand. Risham's mother learned about our medical partner, G.S. Memorial Plastic Surgery Hospital and Trauma Center, and sought treatment. On September 10th, specialty surgeons will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help him regain mobility and function in his right hand. Now, he needs help to fund this $1,442 procedure. Risham's mother shared, "I feel hopeful, and it would be good if he gets the treatment; he can start writing again."
