Barkot is a playful three-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves to watch cartoons and play football with his dad. His mom is a homemaker and his dad works as a laborer at a beverage company. The family used to live in a rented house, but with the rent increase, they had to live with Barkot’s grandparents.
Barkot was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remain undescended. If left untreated, Barkot has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future.
Barkot will receive assistance from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH). Fortunately, he is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on August 13th. AMH is requesting $754 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care.
Barkot’s mother said “After the surgery, I hope his condition will be corrected and he will become fully healthy. I hope we will relieve the stress that we have had for the past three years.”
