Proscovia is a 19-year-old student from Uganda. She is the fourth-born child in a family of six children. Both of her parents are small-scale farmers, who depend on limited agricultural activities to support their family. Proscovia is currently a Senior 6 student, working towards completing her education, and achieving her dreams for the future.
Two years ago, Proscovia began to experience troubling symptoms. She went to Uganda Martyr’s Ibanda hospital, where she was examined by a gynecologist, and diagnosed with an ovarian mass. Physicians have recommended a laparotomy, which is a surgery that opens up the abdominal cavity, to treat her condition.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $279 to fund Proscovia’s surgery, which will take place on September 15th, at Uganda Martyr’s Ibanda Hospital. This procedure should greatly improve Proscovia’s quality of life.
Proscovia’s mother said: “I thank God for protecting my daughter up to this day, though she is in pain. I hope to get assistance from the donor program since I don’t have money for her operation. I will keep practicing farming and supporting her studies.’’
