Meet Geoffrey, a 27-year-old father from Kenya. Two years ago he broke his ankle in a motorbike accident while working as a taxi operator. The ankle was treated at that time but it has yet to heal. As a result, Geoffrey is in severe pain and unable to work. His wife and two children left him because he can no longer provide for them.
“I want to be able to work again. I know that once I can support my wife and children again, they will come back,” Geoffrey says. He is not only hopeful, he is determined. Geoffrey sold his bike and cows, raised funds from his community, and rented out his farm to help fund his treatment.
Geoffrey’s broken ankle will need to be treated through ankle fusion surgery. After the procedure, he is expected to have full mobility and no pain. With $900 we can give Geoffrey the support he needs to get care and bring his family back together.
Note: Our team photographed Geoffrey’s initial exam during our visit to Kenya. You can find him in the third photo set of this blog post. We’re excited to help him get the care he needs!
