"Baby C" was just born! Unfortunately, he has a severe cleft lip and palate deformity. This can be dangerous because it will prevent him from feeding normally, and could result in malnutrition. Fortunately, Baby C's mother lives in a community where Wuqu' Kawoq has primary care programs, and she knew to come for help.
Wuqu' Kawoq is calling this little guy "Baby C" because he doesn't have a name yet. Guatemalan indigenous parents often hold off on naming new babies for several weeks, especially when they have birth defects, in order to make sure that they are going to survive.
Fortunately, with support from Watsi donors, Baby C can thrive. For $850, we can pay for his nutritional care and eventual corrective surgery, making it possible for him to live a normal, healthy life.
