When three-year-old Than Win’s parents noticed that their son was breathing irregularly, they took him to a clinic, where an X-ray revealed that he had a screw lodged in his lungs. The screw in Than Win's lungs is causing the otherwise happy child to have problems with his respiratory system. Than Win’s doctors believe that they can remove the screw surgically. The endoscopy and surgery that would remove the screw and return Than Win's respiratory system to normal costs $1,200. Than Win’s father is a Burmese tenant farmer, paying a rental fee in order to work another farmer’s land, and he doesn't have much disposable income to put towards this procedure. At 21, Ka Saw has lived many lives. He’s lived in Burma, then at a refugee camp in Thailand, and then all over Bangkok; working on a fishing boat, in an ice factory, and at a crab shop working to support himself. But everything was cut short when he started having severe pain in his side. Doctors in Bangkok diagnosed Ka Saw with kidney stones. They placed a small rubber tube, called a nephrostomy tube, into his kidney to allow urine to leave his body until the stones were removed. But because Ka Saw is a migrant worker, they denied him financial support for the rest of his treatment. Ka Saw needs our help to raise the $800 he needs for surgery to remove his kidney stones. Eremon is 14-year-old boy from the northernmost region of Kenya. Eremon has a deformity in one leg, called a "knock knee," which makes his leg angle inward and causes pain and limited mobility. Adjaratou is a joyful three-year-old girl who loves to play with her dolls. Three months ago, Adjaratou broke out in a fever and her left upper arm became swollen. She continued to have fevers and began to lose weight. At the hospital, Adjaratou was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, a potentially life-threatening bone infection. If left untreated, the infection could lead to sepsis or death. To halt the infection, Adjaratou needs to undergo surgical removal of infected tissue and a course of antibiotics. Her mother works as a maid and barely makes enough to provide for her family; she simply can’t afford the $765 needed for her daughter’s treatment. 15-year-old Reaska is an ambitious teenager from Cambodia who enjoys reading in his free time. Six weeks ago, Reasksa was in a motorbike accident and broke his arm.
