Irene is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She and her husband have five children.
For five years, Irene has been experiencing lower abdominal pain with abnormal bleeding and backache. She has often been in and out of hospital seeking medical treatment, but all have been in vain. She had been scheduled for surgery at one of the hospitals, but she could not raise the required funds and stayed home with her pain.
Irene was referred to our medical partner's care center, Karoli Lwanga Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a premalignant cervical lesion. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $219 to fund Irene's surgery. On December 4th, she will undergo gynecological surgery, and once recovered, Irene will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Irene says, “I have faith that with your support, I will be able to regain my health and will have the strength to continue farming in good health to keep up the family.”
