Flor is a 21-month-old baby girl from Guatemala. She lives with her parents, who work in agriculture. Flor can walk on her own and speaks a few words with her family. She loves to eat bananas and carrots, and she likes playing with her teddy bear.
Flor was recently diagnosed with malnutrition. She has little energy to grow, and her immune system is weak and vulnerable to illness. She is also at risk of chronic disease and delayed development.
To improve her condition, Flor will begin treatment on February 16 at our medical partner’s care center, Clinic Tecpán. Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, is asking for $437 to fund Flor’s nutritional supplements, medications, and an educational program that will teach her mother how to prepare nutrient-rich meals using limited resources.
“I hope that my daughter will be able to improve her development and in the future be a smart girl, so that when she is big she can get good grades in school,” says Flor’s mother.
