Ouksa is a 19-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and currently lives with his wife and parents. The entire family works to farm rice for a living. Ouksa enjoys playing volleyball with his friends in the village during his free time. About three years ago, Ouksa was bitten by a snake on his left hand. He received treatment at a local hospital and was later transferred to another facility for wound debridement. Although the wound healed, he developed a scar contracture affecting his left wrist and hand. The scar contracture limits the movement of his left wrist and makes it difficult for him to use his dominant hand for daily activities and farming. This affects his ability to work comfortably and independently. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is helping Ouksa with his treatment. On August 13th, surgeons at their care center will perform a contracture release surgery to improve the movement and function of his left wrist and hand, making it easier for him to return to his normal daily life. His family can contribute $25, but needs help raising $547 more to fund his procedure and care. Ouksa said, “I hope the surgery will improve the movement and function of my left hand so I can return to farming, do my daily activities more easily, and use my hand independently again.”

Hana is a one-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He enjoys playing football and watching animated movies. His mother is a homemaker, while his father works as a daily labourer in construction. Hana was born with bladder exstrophy, a congenital anomaly that affects the bladder and surrounding structures, causing the bladder to form outside the body instead of inside the abdomen. The condition can lead to various challenges, including difficulties with urinary control, potential risks of infection, and a risk of infertility. Fortunately, Hana is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on October 12th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Hana’s mother shared, “My greatest wish is to see my child healthy, happy, and growing strong. I am deeply grateful to the organisation for providing my child with this life-changing support and the opportunity to receive the treatment he needed. Abubeker is a 10-year-old student from Ethiopia. He is the 3rd grade, and is the oldest of three brothers. His father father works as a retailer, while his mother is a home maker. Since he was about four years old, Abubeker has been experiencing chronic tonsil problems. The condition has caused heavy snoring and severe sleep challenges that impact his rest at night. Abubeker has also missed school frequently due to sickness, which is hurting his school work and focus in class. Abubeker was reviewed at Saglan Wajee General Hospital, and was diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Abubeker's family is seeking to raise $700 to fund a tonsillectomy, which is scheduled to take place on September 20th. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, hopefully relieving Abubeker of his symptoms, and helping him live more comfortably. His mother says, "Carrying the weight of a child's ill health and sleepless nights is heavy, yet our one hope is to watch him heal and see his joyful spirit return."
