Eliany is a three-year-old girl from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She lives with her parents and younger brother. During the day, Eliany loves to play and watch cartoons.
Eliany was born with a ventricular septal defect, a cardiac condition in which a hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart. Blood leaks through this hole without first passing through her lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving her sick and short of breath. This condition creates constant sickness and makes it difficult for Eliany to breathe.
Although Gift of Life International is subsidizing a large portion of her surgery, our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover the cost of medications, exams, and her hospital stay.
Eliany is scheduled to have heart surgery on May 23, and her family is excited to see Eliany happy and healthy.
“We are praying that surgery will go well for our daughter so she will no longer be sick and out of breath,” says Eliany’s mother.
