Salas is a 35-year-old tuk-tuk driver with two daughters and one son. He likes to watch boxing on TV, listen to the news on the radio, and relax at home.
In January 2016, Salas was in a motorbike accident. He fractured his right tibia, the larger of the two bones between the knee and the ankle. He visited a Khmer traditional healer, but his symptoms did not improve. After undergoing surgery at a military hospital, his symptoms actually worsened. Salas was in pain, and he had difficulty walking.
When Salas learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for six hours to seek treatment. On November 24, CSC surgeons removed the hardware from his previous surgery.
After recovery, Salas should be able to work again. Now, he needs help to fund this $411 procedure.
Salas shares, “I hope to walk normally again and go home pain-free.”
