Abegail is a 36-year-old mother of five from rural Kenya. Not only does she take care of the children, but she also sells goods along the road in her village to meet her family’s daily needs. Her husband works as a carpenter.
At the beginning of the year, Abegail was in a road accident in which she sustained injuries to her arm. She was referred to our medical partner’s care center, AIC Kijabe Hospital, where she received X-rays of her arm. The X-ray images revealed a fracture on her humerus.
Physicians have scheduled her for an open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) procedure. An ORIF surgery will realign the bones using steel rods, screws, or plates to keep the bone fracture stable while it heals. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $640 to fund the procedure on April 13.
Abegail says, “I want to be well to help provide for my family and reduce the pain I experience.”
