Rosalinda is a 47-year-old mother from the Philippines. Rosalinda and her husband have two children. Rosalinda stays home to care for her children, while her husband works as a security guard to support their family. During her free time, Rosalinda enjoys cleaning their house while watching her favorite television shows. One year ago, Rosalinda began to experience some concerning symptoms, including difficulty swallowing and dry throat and lips. Upon seeking treatment, she was diagnosed with a colloid goiter, or lesions in her thyroid gland. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), can help. Rosalinda is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on May 22nd at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. A portion of the cost of her treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and WSFP is requesting $935 to cover the cost of Rosalinda's procedure and care. Rosalinda shared, "While I am scared going through the surgery, I just think of spending more quality time with my family after my treatment. There is nothing I want more than spending the rest of my life taking care of my children so I am very grateful to all the people who will help me make this happen. Thank you very much for giving me hope."

Boika is a toddler from Haiti. He lives with his parents and four siblings in a small rural village where his parents are both farmers. Boika has a cardiac condition called ventricular septal defect. A hole exists between the two lower chambers of his heart; blood leaks through this hole without passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving him weak and short of breath. Boika also has Down syndrome. Boika will fly to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. On July 15, he will undergo cardiac surgery, during which Surgeons will sew the hole closed so that blood can no longer leak through it. Another organization is contributing funds to help pay for surgery, but Boika's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep and transportation. These funds will covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment as well as the social workers from our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Boika's family overseas. Boika's mom said, "I hope that after this surgery, my son will get the strength to start walking and playing on his own."

Moony is a 34-year-old cook from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and their two children, a 6-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son. Moony works as a cook in a restaurant and his wife is a stay-at-home mother. One year ago, Moony was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture to his left knee. Following the accident, he was sent to a public hospital in Phnom Penh, where he underwent tibial plateau fixation surgery. For the last several months, the hardware they installed has become uncomfortable and is making it difficult for him to walk. On September 9th, Moony will undergo a hardware removal procedure at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. The procedure will address his pain and improve his mobility. Moony is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise $204 more to fund the procedure. Moony shared, "I hope that after surgery, I will be able to walk comfortably and return to work."
