Nim is seven years old and lives with her family in Cambodia. She likes cartoons and drawing flowers.
She had a high fever as a baby, for which she was given several shots in her thighs at a local clinic. Her legs have become very stiff, possibly due to the injections, and she has trouble walking normally.
Nim’s family brought her to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, and the doctors have decided surgery is necessary. She will need a contracture release surgery, which will help her mobility and leg function. Her surgery is scheduled for November 11.
Nim’s family cannot afford the cost of the surgery and are appealing to Watsi to help fund the $417 that is necessary.
“I hope my daughter can walk normally,” says her mother.
After surgery, Nim’s mobility will hopefully improve and she will be able to continue growing happy and healthy again.
