Bariki is six-year-old boy and the only child of her single mother. He's a charming, friendly, and social kid. Bariki is now old enough to start school because most of his age mates joined class one this year. Bariki couldn’t join the school because he was born with a disability of the legs making walking for him impossible. He was born with a right clubfoot and the left had a congenital deformity of the knee. Currently he has to pull himself around to be able to move from one place to another. Bariki’s mother depends on small-scale farming to be able to feed her child. She lives and farms on her parents’ land. Last year through our medical partner's outreach program they got to know Bariki and the need for him to have treatment to help him have a chance to walk. He went through treatment of manipulation and casting to correct his clubfoot, and this was successful. He has been to an orthopedic clinic trying to see whether his knee joint could be corrected to help him straighten his leg and stand but his knee cannot be released. To help Bariki have a chance to walk with ease he needs amputation above the knee so that when he is healed, he can use a prosthetic leg that will help him walk. Bariki’s mother shared, “I will be so happy if my son can be treated and be able to stand and walk instead of him crawling.”

Nget is a 33-year-old grocery seller with one son and one daughter, both are in school. Nget's wife sells groceries with him. In his free time, Nget enjoys playing football and volleyball, listening to music, and singing songs. In March 2019, Nget was in an accident and sustained multiple fractures. Nget underwent an open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) procedure after the accident to heal the fractures. Now Nget's left femur is healed and the plate screws need to be removed to avoid future complications. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On May 10th, Nget will undergo a hardware removal procedure. CSC is helping Nget raise $304 to cover the cost of the procedure that will allow him to be fully healed, stop the risk of infection, and help him walk more easily again. Nget says, "I hope my leg is free of pain and heals quickly so I can return to working with my wife."

Augostino is a playful boy in kindergarten, who hails from Samor village in Western Kenya. One year ago, Augostino suffered severe burns to the left side of his face when he was trying to fetch food. As a result of his injury, Augostino developed scar contractures, which have tightened the skin around the burns. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Augostino receive treatment. On May 1st, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help him heal. Now, his family needs help to fund this procedure, which will cost $1,478. Augostino's father says, “I want my child to have a good look just like other children. I always ask myself why this happened to him."
