Srey Pich is an only child and lives with her mother, who works in a clothing factory in Kandal province. She is currently in grade four and enjoys studying English. At home, Srey Pich loves eating egg fried rice and playing on the phone during her free time from school.
For the past two years, Srey Pich has experienced swelling, pain, redness, and discharge in her right ear. Doctors have diagnosed her with a chronic pre-auricular pit sinus infection. An ear cyst is a small hole above the ear canal that is congenital - children are born with it. There is a hole under the skin that marks an incorrectly placed sinus tract. In most cases, people do not realize they have a sinus pit until they develop an infection. She continues to experience swelling and infection despite having undergone an incision procedure a year ago. Her mother is worried that this condition affects Srey Pich’s ability to concentrate on her studies and may lead to more severe infections in the future.
Referred by a villager, Srey Pich and her mother traveled to our medical partner, the Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), to seek treatment. Srey Pich is scheduled for surgery on November 19th to excise the preauricular sinus skin pit infection on her right side. Srey Pich’s family can contribute $75 towards her care and needs your support to raise $222. After surgery, Srey Pich can regain her health and focus on her studies.
Srey Pich’s mother said: “I hope Srey Pich will be able to study and live a happy and healthy life when she grows up.”
