Stanley is a 64-year-old father of four from Malawi. To provide income for his family, Stanley works as a car sales representative and at a local motorcycle shop, though he admits that his income is often insufficient to fully support them. For the past six months, Stanley has been experiencing abdominal swelling and discomfort. At first, the symptoms were subtle, but over the last two weeks they have become more severe, leaving him with increasing pain and difficulty in walking. This has made both work and home life very challenging. Stanley has been diagnosed with a bilateral inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles. Stanley needs a hernia repair procedure, but with his current income, he cannot afford the cost of surgery. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Stanley undergo hernia repair surgery on April 20th. This procedure will cost $500, and Stanley needs your support to fund the procedure. Stanley said, “I am struggling with this condition, which has made my life very difficult. I wish to be able to work and provide for my family again, without pain. I truly hope I can receive support, because I cannot manage raising the funds on my own.”

Seanghong is an 18-year-old student from Cambodia. He is an only child, who lives with his mother and aunt in Kampot. His father passed away one year ago. His aunt is a rice farmer, and he enjoys listening to music and watching volleyball in his free time. About six months ago, Seanghong was involved in a road traffic accident, which caused an open fracture of his left shinbone. After the accident, he underwent surgery to repair the fracture and was fitted with a surgical nail. His fracture has now healed well and he has full range of motion, but he sometimes experiences stiffness and discomfort in his left leg because the nail remains in place. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 8th, Seanghong will undergo a surgical hardware removal procedure. This will reduce the stiffness and discomfort in his leg, helping him move more comfortably and continue his studies and daily activities. Seanghong's family is contributing to his treatment, but need help to raise an additional $328 for the procedure. Seanghong said, “I hope removing the surgical nail will reduce the stiffness and discomfort in my leg so I can move more comfortably and continue my studies and daily activities.”

James is a 57-year-old farmer from Malawi, married with four children. He is the sole provider for his family, relying entirely on subsistence farming to put food on the table. In October 2025, James was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. The condion has been causing on-and-off swelling, and over time, it's been accompanied by worsening pain, making it difficult for him to continue farm work. James is hopeful that undergoing surgery will improve his condition, restore his ability to work, and enable him to continue providing for his family. Fortunately, on April 9th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. James is raising $575 to fund the procedure, which will allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. James says, "I heard about the donor program that has assisted many patients at this hospital (Partners in Hope Medical Center). I hope I can also receive support for my treatment."
