Thaung is a 29-year-old from Burma. She lives with her husband, son, maternal grandparents, and younger brother in a refugee camp in Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, Thailand. Thaung’s grandparents are retired and frequently unwell, so she stays home to look after them. Her son attends nursery school. Sometimes, Thaung’s father weaves bamboo, and her husband assists him in weaving bamboo for selling. During her free time, she enjoys Thaung enjoys listening to music and going to the monastery.
Thaung is currently expecting her second child, and her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Thaung undergo a C-Section on December 9th at our medical partner’s care center, Tha Song Yang Hospital. This procedure will cost $1500, and Thaung needs your support.
Thaung said, “I am happy when my family is healthy,” she said, “so I hope that my children will be healthcare workers so they can help the family and can be helpful to anyone anywhere.” Thaung expressed her gratitude to donors for their support, saying, “Thank you so much. If you didn’t help me, it would not be easy to find money. I don’t know what I would do.”
