Rin is a 25-year-old chef from Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. She lives with her sister. Her parents passed away one year ago, and her six siblings are all married and living with their own families. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music. At the age of nine, Rin had a knee abscess in her right knee that was treated at a private clinic. Over time, the infection led to lasting joint damage, and she has since developed osteoarthritis of the right knee. She experiences persistent pain, swelling, and difficulty walking, making it hard to manage her work as a chef and daily activities such as using stairs. Fortunately, on May 7th, Rin will undergo knee fusion surgery with the help of our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. Rin can contribute $100, but needs help raising an additional $500 to fund her surgery and care. This procedure will help stabilize the joint, reduce her pain, and improve her mobility. Rin said, "After the surgery, I hope that my pain and swelling will be relieved, and that I will be able to move my right knee more comfortably. I also hope to regain better mobility and improve my ability to carry out daily activities without difficulty."

Chu is a 44-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her sister and niece in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Thailand. She left her home in Yangon Region, Burma, to escape violence after a military coup in 2021. Chu and her sister work at a church in Mae Sot, where they cook and clean for daily events and handle behind-the-scenes tasks for weddings, funerals, and parties. They rely on donations from the church and have no formal salary. The income she receives is enough to cover basic expenses for the family, including food and healthcare. In her free time, she loves to cook and bake desserts. After surgery, she wants to continue to make snacks and potentially start a business selling them on her own. Since 2023, Chu has been experiencing troubling symptoms, including right lower back pain and right lower abdomen pain. The pain worsens when Chu stands or sits for long periods of time. Her symptoms are exacerbated at work, but she continues her duties, taking oral painkillers to manage the pain. Doctors plan to perform a ureteroscopy, a procedure used to diagnose and treat kidney stones or ureteral blockages by passing a small, fiberoptic scope through the urethra and bladder into the ureter. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 for this procedure. The treatment is scheduled to take place on April 10th. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully alleviate her symptoms. Chu said, "I had nowhere else to look for money. After your organisation agreed to help me, I felt relieved. I have fled from my home and left my family to come here. However, I feel warm and supported by my church with basic needs. Thank you for helping me.”

Khin Maung is a 45-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his wife and two daughters in the village in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, Thailand. He works as a day labourer, while his wife is a homemaker. His eldest daughter left school to care for her younger sister and support the family at home. In September 2025, Khin Maung noticed a lump below his left lower jawbone. He did not seek any treatment because he believed the lump would disappear on its own. The mass is slowly increasing in size and has started to cause pain, making it difficult for him to sleep. Despite the increasing discomfort, he continued delaying treatment because he did not have sufficient financial resources to cover the cost of the treatment. Doctors want Khin Maung to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which x-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose his condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $414 to cover the cost of Khin Maung's CT scan and care, scheduled for June 30th.
