Ricarson is a 45-year-old man from Haiti. He lives by himself in a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince; he has seven siblings. He works primarily as an electrician, but also as a freelance journalist. Ricarson has a cardiac condition called rheumatic mitral regurgitation. One of the four valves of his heart does not open and close properly as a result of an infection he suffered earlier in his life. This has led to heart failure, leaving him weak and short of breath. Ricarson needs to fly to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. On August 12th, he will undergo heart surgery, during which surgeons will remove his damaged valve and implant an artificial replacement. Another organization, Haitian Hearts Foundation, is contributing to the cost of the surgery. But Ricarson's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover laboratory tests, medications, and check-up and follow-up appointments. It also supports securing travel documents for the family and travel costs for the social workers from our medical partner, who will accompany Ricarson's family overseas. Pich is a 17-year-old young man from Cambodia. He is the youngest of two siblings and lives with his parents in Kampong Cham Province. His father works as a day laborer on a rubber farm, while his mother works in a garment factory. He left school while in Grade 10 and now works alongside his father to help the family. His favorite dish is korko fish soup. During his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball and football with his friends in the village. In April 2026, Pich was involved in a motorbike accident that caused serious injuries and nerve damage to his left arm. He lost consciousness and received stitches for multiple wounds on his left upper arm. He later sought traditional Khmer treatment, but his arm did not improve as he had hoped. Approximately six months after the accident, he has regained some movement in his shoulder and elbow, but he still cannot bend his elbow normally or move his wrist and fingers. He also experiences numbness in his left forearm and hand. He needs to undergo a tendon and nerve repair procedure to help regain strength and mobility. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is helping Pich receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo the tendon and nerve repair procedure on October 22nd. His family can contribute $37.50, but needs help raising $664 more to help fund his procedure and care. Pich said, “Since my accident, I haven’t been able to use my left arm the way I used to, and it has made my daily life and work very difficult. I’m still young, and I want to regain movement in my arm so I can work and take care of myself again. I hope this surgery will give me a chance to improve and move toward a better future.”

Jeremia is an 11-month-old baby boy. He is the only child in his family and lives with both parents, who work as pastoralists. They keep cattle and occasionally cultivate maize during the farming season to support their family. Jeremia has clubfoot on both feet, a congenital condition in which feet are twisted inward. Without appropriate treatment, this condition can make walking difficult and affect his ability to wear regular shoes comfortably as he grows. When Jeremia was born, his parents were unaware that medical treatment could help correct the position of his feet. Hope came when the Kafika House outreach team visited their village and identified Jeremia as a child who could benefit from treatment. For his parents, this discovery opened the door to an opportunity they had not previously known was available. Following an assessment, Jeremia has been scheduled to begin clubfoot treatment on October 20th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Jeremia's clubfoot repair.
