Filimoni is a 52-year-old farmer from Malawi. She works alongside her husband on their small farm, where they cultivate maize, groundnuts, and soya beans for home consumption and sale.
For 24 years, Filimoni has had an inguinal hernia. As years passed, her condition worsened and the pain became intolerable. She needs surgery to prevent further complications and improve her quality of life.
Fortunately, on March 19th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $421 to fund Filimoni’s hernia repair surgery. Once completed, she will hopefully live more comfortably.
Filimoni said, “For so many years, I have lived in fear of surgery. But now, I understand that this surgery is my only hope for relief. I am grateful for any support I can receive, as it will not only help me heal, but it will also allow me to continue taking care of my family and working on our farm. I believe that after this surgery, I will be able to live a better, healthier life, and that is a gift I am ready to receive.”
