Baby Nardos is a cheerful and playful 8-month-old boy from Ethiopia. He enjoys playing with toys and spending time with other children. He lives with his parents and two older sisters. His father works as a carpenter, while his mother is a homemaker who dedicates her time to caring for the family. Baby Nardos was born with a condition called Hirschprung's disease. This is where a portion of the intestine does not have proper nerve function leaving a child with difficulty with bowel function. Doctors explained that he would need surgery but advised the family to wait until he was older and had grown enough to undergo the procedure. When Nardos was five months old, he was referred to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids at Myungsung Christian Medical Center (BKMCM), for specialized treatment. Although the family initially felt anxious and uncertain, they were relieved to learn that Nardos could receive the care he needed. Surgeons will remove the part of the intestine that is not working properly and reconnect the healthy intestine to restore proper bowel function. Baby Nardos is scheduled to undergo this surgery on October 25th with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. The procedure and follow-up care will cost $1,500, and Baby Nardos needs your help. Phally is 42 years old and a father of two from Cambodia. His wife is a garment factory worker, and their two children are currently in Grades 10 and 5. In his free time, he enjoys making toy cars for his children. He previously worked as a truck driver, but his health condition has forced him to stop working. Phally first began experiencing pain in both hips about six years ago and was diagnosed with avascular necrosis (AVN) in 2022. This condition occurs when the blood supply to the bone is reduced, causing the bone tissue to become damaged. Over the past two years, his pain has become much worse. The condition has progressed particularly in his left hip, where the bone has collapsed. His left leg is now shorter than his right, making walking and moving around increasingly difficult. As the pain has worsened, Phally has become dependent on a walking frame for support and struggles with everyday activities. Phally was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). On November 3rd, he will undergo a left total hip replacement (THR) to relieve his pain and improve his mobility. Phally and his family can contribute $100 and need support to cover the remaining $1,400. Phally said, “I hope the surgery will reduce my hip pain and help me walk normally again. I miss being able to work and take care of my daily activities without depending on others. My biggest wish is to regain my independence and return to driving a truck when I am able.”

At 15, Linda is a student from Cambodia who enjoys reading books, doing homework, and studying English. She lives with her parents, who are rice farmers, and her two sisters. Her older sister works as a grocery seller, while her younger sister is in Grade 7. On January 1, 2026, Linda accidentally fell in the bathroom and fractured the neck of her left femur. She underwent surgery to fix the fracture with screws. Unfortunately, the bone did not heal properly, leaving her with a nonunion fracture. Since the accident, Linda has continued to experience pain in her left hip, especially when walking or moving her leg. She relies on crutches for support, and the pain has prevented her from attending school. As a result, her education has been interrupted, and she has missed out on many of the activities she used to enjoy. Linda's family heard about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, and sought treatment. Following an assessment, the medical team recommended a left total hip replacement, which Linda is scheduled to undergo on November 4th. She needs $1,500 to help cover the cost of her surgery and post-operative care. The operation aims to relieve her hip pain and improve her mobility, giving her hope of walking more comfortably and returning to school. Linda's mother said, “I’m happy that my daughter has received the surgery she needed. I hope she will recover well, walk without pain, and return to school. I want her to enjoy her life like other children and continue her education.”
