“My baby’s condition worries me and our family very much,” shares the mother of Juwar.
Nine-month-old Juwar was born with anorectal malformation – he cannot pass stool in a normal way. Juwar lives in Ethiopia with his mother and father, who are farmers, and nine siblings.
As a result of his malformation, Juwar has developed bowel obstruction. He needs a three-part surgery to correct his condition, and allow him to fully recover. His family has gone to different hospitals for the past nine months but were told the procedures could not be done. He is able to receive proper treatment at Watsi’s medical partner, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre. Treatment will cost $1,500.
Juwar is very active and loves to play and laugh with his mother. He enjoys eating fruit. After his colostomy, pull-through procedure, and colostomy closure in three months, Juwar will be free from his condition.
