Har Si is a 38-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her three daughters and son-in-law in a refugee camp in Thailand. Her eldest daughter and son-in-law run a small home-based grocery shop, while her two younger daughters attend school in the camp. Har Si is a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies on her phone and chatting with her neighbors. In October 2025, Har Si felt a lump on the left side of her neck while bathing. She was diagnosed with a left branchial cleft cyst. She experiences fatigue and discomfort from the cyst. Although the doctors have reassured her that the lump is not cancerous, she still worries that it may not disappear. Har Si traveled to our medical partner's care center, Mae Sot General Hospital, to receive care, and on July 21st, surgeons will remove the cyst. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund Har Si's procedure and provide her relief from the impact of the cyst. Har Si shared, “I feel so happy and relieved because of your support. Before this, I was worried that I would never be able to afford the surgery. I was afraid the lump might become cancerous and that I would be separated from my daughters. Now, because of your assistance, I have the opportunity to receive the surgery I need."

Char is a 55-year-old man from Burma who lives with his wife, two daughters, and two sons. His oldest two children work as small-scale farmers alongside Char and his wife, while his two youngest are students. Char's family also raises buffalo, pigs, and chickens for their consumption and to sell for income every four or five months. Char shared that the money they earn from selling their livestock, as well as the crops they grow for themselves, is just enough to cover their daily needs and to pay for basic health care. Char has a right inguinal hernia with bowel obstruction that is causing him to experience a lot of pain, difficulty walking and moving, and a reduced appetite. He needs to undergo surgery to heal from his condition. Fortunately, our medical partner can help him undergo hernia repair surgery on May 12th, which, once completed, will allow him to live more comfortably. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,468 to fund Char's surgery. Char shared about how upsetting this condition has been for him and his family, stating: "I cannot help my family take care of our rice fields, [vegetable] garden, or buffaloes," he said. "After I recover, I want to go home to take care of our rice fields and look after my buffalo. I will also go to the forest to forage for vegetables and hunt."

Jade is a 17-month-old baby girl from Bolivia. She lives with her mom, who used to work as a maid, her dad, who is a driver, and her older brother. Jade was born prematurely at 6 months 2 weeks, and spent four months in NICU; it was during this time that doctors informed her family that she would need heart surgery, but that they preferred to wait for her to grow. Jade has a cardiac condition called patent ductus arteriosus. A hole exists between two blood vessels next to her heart. This condition prevents Jade's blood from circulating properly, causing her weakness and leaving her at risk of heart failure if the condition goes untreated. On August 5th, she will undergo cardiac surgery at our medical partner's care center, Hospital del Niño Dr. Ovidio Aliaga Uría. During surgery, surgeons will sew the hole closed so that blood can no longer leak through it. Jade's family needs help to fund the costs of cardiac care and surgery. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, requests $1,500 to cover the cost of cardiac exams and diagnostics, surgical costs, follow-up care, and medications. Jade's mother shared, "I just pray my little daughter will have a successful surgery so she can have a happy life."
