Malick is a two-year-old boy from Kenya and is the only child of his mother. His mom is a single mom who stays home to take care of him.
Malick has clubfoot on both feet. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. He was also born with spina bifida - a condition that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly. These two conditions make it hard for him to move. He can’t stand or walk like other children, so he uses a wheelchair to get around. He is currently in the hospital receiving treatment, which includes a series of casts on his feet. The purpose of these casts is to slowly improve the position of his feet to get better results after surgery. After the casting, he will have surgery on both feet.
Fortunately, Malick visited our medical partner’s care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on June 25th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,286 to fund Malick’s clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to move and play with his friends, and join school like other children.
“I am longing to see my kid walking and running around like other children,” Malick’s mother told us.
