Lucy is a 52-year-old mother of two children in Kenya. She and her children work as farmers.
At the beginning of this year Lucy developed uterine fibroids, noncancerous growths which cause a swelling of the abdomen, fatigue, heavy bleeding, and severe pain. Lucy is a very social woman but has been hesitant to be seen in public because she is afraid of appearing pregnant to others. Fortunately, a total abdominal hysterectomy can remove the growths and return Lucy to good health.
Lucy can not afford this treatment on her own but remains optimistic about the support available to her. She says, “For a long time now, I have been trying to raise money without success. Through God’s grace, I believe Watsi is going to help me and I pray that God will bless them too. I hope to be healthy again to be able to care for myself and be there for my children.” Let’s raise the $790 to make sure Lucy can pay for the treatment and care she needs!

Lucy received surgery to treat uterine fibroids.
“Lucy successfully underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy.” Her doctor at our medical partner African Mission Healthcare Foundation writes. “She is recovering well! A huge growth (3.5kg) was removed. It was such a great relief for Lucy to be free from the heavy weight, discomfort and bleeding. Lucy will have a full social life and eventually farm to take care of her family.”
Lucy was all smiles as she left the hospital and says, “I am very happy for the support I received from Watsi. I feel so great that a heavy burden has been taken off my body. Let the donors know that they have given me a new lease on life through their contributions.”
