Annah is a 39-year-old woman from Uganda. She and her husband are small-scale farmers. They cultivate beans and cassava on a small piece of land. Their farming activities provide some of the necessities for their household; however, their harvest and earnings are insufficient to meet the family's needs. Annah is currently expecting a new baby. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Annah undergo a C-Section on October 31st. This procedure will cost $207, and Annah needs your support. The day was a celebration until his motorcycle's brakes went out. On his way home from his daughter's graduation ceremony, Peter was in a serious motorcycle accident. After being rushed to the hospital, he received basic care for injuries to his right arm, tibia and fibula fractures, and an open leg wound. He was then referred to our medical partner's care center, AIC Kapsowar Hospital, for more advanced treatment. The surgical team is planning a complex free flap operation, stabilizing the fractured bone and covering the damaged tissue. The surgery is scheduled to take place on October 21st. However, Peter's financial constraints threaten his recovery. He works as a plumber, and his wife sells second-hand clothing with enough earnings to cover daily expenses, but not a complex and unexpected leg surgery. Ricky is 51 years old and a forklift operator from the Philippines. He is the sole breadwinner for his family, earning through irregular employment. One of his children helps by working part-time as a package courier, while his youngest child is still in school. Four months ago, Ricky began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty passing stool, dizziness, frequent vomiting, and poor appetite. Ricky was diagnosed with gallstones and has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, his symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. His medical condition causes severe pain that affects his ability to work, placing additional financial strain on his family. The family hopes he can receive surgery soon so he can recover, return to work, and continue providing for his loved ones. Ricky sought treatment through our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP). He is scheduled to undergo a cholecystectomy on July 13th. A portion of the procedure's cost is being covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is raising the remaining $1,031 to cover the cost of Ricky's surgery and care.
