Bridget is a 28-year-old woman from Uganda. Born into a family of eight children, Bridget completed a civil engineering course, but has so far not been able to secure employment. Presently, she practices small-scale farming to earn some income to meet family needs. Her husband, also a qualified engineer, has been able to find a job within his profession, and works as a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) driver, working hard to supplement his wife's income. During her free time, Bridget enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Bridget is currently expecting her first child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Bridget undergo a C-Section on February 17th. This procedure will cost $214, and Bridget needs your support. Bridget says, "I earnestly seek your support. I am a professional engineer, but with no job, and the little income we get is from my husband, who is a boda-boda rider, and a little from our small farm. I look forward to becoming a mother."

Kanh is 82 years old and a widower from Cambodia. He is a retired rice farmer. He has four daughters and currently lives with his youngest daughter, who works as a garment factory laborer and helps take care of him. In his daily life, he enjoys attending local ceremonies and community gatherings, which are meaningful activities for him. About one year ago, aging cataract, Kanh developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he is not able to go places on his own. When Kanh learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On March 16th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Kanh is able to contribute $25 to his care, but needs help raising $238 more to fund the procedure. Kanh said. "I hope that after the eye surgery, my vision will improve so that I can see more clearly, easily recognize family members and friends, travel to distant places, and once again participate in ceremonies and social events in my community."

Ayami is a 67-year-old father of eight children from Malawi. Four of his children are casual workers, while the rest are school-going. Ayami is a carpenter; however, due to his worsening condition, he has been unable to engage in work, leading to a significant reduction in his daily income. For three years, Ayami has had bilateral inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. At first, the condition was characterized by small intermittent swellings. Over time, however, the frequency of these swelling episodes increased and were accompanied by pain. About five months ago, Ayami sought medical attention and was scheduled for surgical repair. However, his scheduled date of surgery kept changing due to the workload at the public hospital, and Ayami was advised to seek care at our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center (PIH). Upon review at PIH, his diagnosis was confirmed and surgery was recommended. Ayami firmly believes that surgical intervention will restore his health, comfort, and dignity. He hopes that successful surgery will allow him to live the remaining years of his life in peace and good health alongside his children and grandchildren. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Ayami receive treatment. On May 6th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery, allowing him to live a healthier life. Ayami is able to contribute towards the cost of his treatment, but need help raising $667 to fund the surgery. He says: "I can't wait to be better after surgery. I have hope that your support will change my life, and help me to concentrate on my work so I can continue supporting my family."
