Phionah is a small businesswoman from southwestern Uganda. She is a brilliant, confident, and sociable woman and loving mother of two children, both delivered via caesarean section, with one currently in nursery school and the other in primary school. Phionah managed to complete high school, but she could not pursue further education due to a lack of school fees. She worked as a housekeeper for a few years before meeting her husband and getting married. She now runs a small-scale retail shop, which provides her family's livelihood. Her husband works as a builder, and they reside in a single-room rental house in Nyarushanje trading centre. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Phionah is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a Caesarean section because of two previous birth scars. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Phionah undergo a C-Section on August 8th. This procedure will cost $252, and Phionah needs your support. Phionah says “Paying for my surgery is the only worry I have because I have no money; however, I have faith that I will have a safe delivery if I get your support.”

Mai is a 59-year-old rice farmer from Kompong Thom province who needs eye surgery. He is married and has one daughter, two sons and seven grandchildren. He and his wife are rice farmers, as are all of his children. Two years ago, Mai developed a pterygium in his right eye, which causes him to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, which is the mucous layer that lubricates the eye. When the conjunctiva is exposed to too much sun over time - as happened with Mai, who spent most of his working life outside - cells grow abnormally over the pupil of the eye, causing vision impairment. Mai needs surgery to remove the abnormal cells, which will be replaced by a conjunctival graft. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is here to help. On September 1st, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will operate on Mai, restoring his vision. The total cost of this procedure - including the medications, supplies and two days of inpatient care - is $225, and Mai needs your help to raise this money. Mai said: "I hope after surgery the irritation and red eye will go away. I want to go back to growing rice and see better."

Seng Hour is a hardworking 42-year-old rice farmer and father of two. He lives in Prey Veng province with his wife and two sons, who are nine and two. In his free time, he enjoys planting fruits and vegetables around his house. On May 1st, 2022, Seng Hour fell while doing work around his house and fractured his right femur. Since his accident, he has been treated by a traditional healer in his village. After one year, he is still experiencing pain and inflammation and is unable to walk without crutches. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On June 1st, Seng Hour will undergo a fracture repair procedure at our partner's care center to help him walk easily again. Seng Hour needs your help to raise $483 to fund his procedure. He shared, "I want to heal my leg so I can work more and support my family."
