Alfred is a 63-year-old father of ten children from Uganda. To provide for their family, Alfred and his wife grow crops primarily for household consumption and sell any surplus produce to meet other basic needs. Their modest income is often insufficient to cover unexpected expenses, especially healthcare costs.
For about three years now, Alfred has had a swelling in a sensitive area. As his condition has worsened, Alfred has found it increasingly difficult to work. The discomfort, pain and heaviness associated with the swelling significantly affected his quality of life and ability to earn an income for his family.
Seeking relief, Alfred visited several health facilities. A friend who had previously received successful treatment advised Alfred to seek help at Rwibaale Hospital. Encouraged by this recommendation, Alfred traveled to the hospital for specialized assessment. Following a thorough examination, he was diagnosed with a left epidydimal cyst. The surgeon advised him to undergo a surgical excision to relieve his pain, restore his health, and improve his ability to work and care for his family. However, due to financial constraints, Alfred cannot afford the cost of the surgery and associated hospital expenses.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $210 to fund Alfred’s surgery, which is scheduled for October 13th. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live a healthier life, free from his painful symptoms.
He says, “I hope to find relief from the pain, so I can go back to my daily activities.”
