Matiyas is a two-year-old boy from Ethiopia. His mother is a homemaker who looks after Matiyas and his younger sister, while his father is a taxi driver. Since birth, he has been fighting a severe, ongoing battle with chronic tonsillitis, a condition that deeply impacts his daily life and overall well-being. His struggle is at its worst during the night. Because his tonsils are constantly swollen, he faces significant airway blockage that makes it nearly impossible for him to breathe through his nose while he sleeps. Instead of resting peacefully, he spends his nights gasping for air and struggling to catch his breath, leaving both him and his parents exhausted and worried. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Matiyas, which is scheduled to take place on May 23rd. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, hopefully relieving Matiyas of his symptoms and helping him live more comfortably. Matiyas's parents shared, "Our deepest hope is for our little boy to finally breathe easily, sleep peacefully through the night, and wake up refreshed instead of gasping for air."

Len is a 65-year-old rubber farmer from Cambodia. She lives with her niece, who also works as a rubber farmer. In her free time, she enjoys caring for her niece's children and helping her niece with housework. On August 30th, 2026, Len was riding a motorcycle when it hit a dog, causing her to fall and fracture her left wrist. An X-ray confirmed a closed Barton fracture of the left distal radius. The fracture has caused pain, swelling, and stiffness in her left wrist, making it difficult for her to use her hand normally. These limitations also make it harder for her to carry out farming and household activities. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 2nd, Len will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will stabilize and repair her fractured left wrist, helping reduce pain and restore movement and function in her hand. She can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund her procedure and care. Len said, “I hope the surgery will help repair my wrist, reduce the pain and swelling, and allow me to use my hand normally again. I want to recover well so I can return to farming and continue taking care of my daily responsibilities.”

No is a 62-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and has four daughters, one son, and six grandchildren. His wife stays home to care for their household while No is farming. When he has free time, he enjoys watching the news on his phone. About two years ago, No developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him to experience itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. No has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he cannot go places on his own. When No learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 22nd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, No will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $263 to fund his procedure. No shared: "I hope, after surgery, my eye can see better so I can go back to growing rice and plant some vegetables around my home."
