Meet Losieku! He is a nine-year-old boy living in Tanzania. The youngest of three children, he is happy, likes playing with others, and wishes “to one day go to school.”
Losieku also has chronic osteomyelitis, a bone infection caused by bacteria and other germs. As a result, Losieku’s femur is weak and at risk of a pathological fracture. Losieku’s mother sells vegetables in an open market but does not earn enough to cover both their basic needs and her son’s treatment. His father is a businessman who travels for long periods of time but does not contribute much at home to help raise his family.
For $700, Losieku can have surgery to reduce the bone infection and improve healing of the femoral defect. Donating to him will help secure the treatment he needs so that he may eventually go to school healthy and ready to learn!

The operation went great! Losieku is recovering well and continues with daily dressings. After complete recovery, Losieku will no longer be at risk of a pathological fracture. He will soon be able to walk pain-free. Thank you for giving this young boy the chance at an active and healthy childhood!
With a big grin on his face, Losieku expressed his gratitude and happiness to our medical partners. He can’t wait to start school after his leg has completely healed.
