Much is required of Sittie's mother, who works, raises her children, and carefully tries to manage her daughter's complicated health condition. Born with Hirschsprung's Disease, Sittie's condition prevents normal muscle contractions in the large intestine, causing her to experience complete or partial intestinal blockages. Uncomfortable and difficult to manage, the condition also carries the risk of life-threatening Hirschsprung-Associated Enterocolitis (HAEC), malnutrition, and other complications. The condition is especially dangerous, given the family's lack of reliable income and accessible healthcare. But with the help of our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), Sittie is scheduled to undergo surgery on October 22nd at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. Government insurance will cover a portion of the treatment cost, and WSFP is requesting an additional $1,123 to help fund Sittie's care and recovery. After treatment, Sittie will no longer experience the challenges of Hirschsprung's Disease, allowing her and her family to spend more time together and less time managing a chronic health condition. Sue is a 25-year-old man from Burma. He was a soldier and now lives at a safe house. Before he enlisted, he was a farmer. He has no income, but is given food and shelter. He usually goes to the army camp clinic for primary healthcare services. In his free time, he loves to exercise. On the 17th of October 2023, Sue sustained injuries to both of his legs from a landmine at the frontline. The medic provided initial first aid to stop the bleeding and promptly referred him to a hospital, where the doctors performed a right below-knee amputation and applied an external fixator to his left leg. Months later, he had to undergo both internal and external fixation surgery to help his leg heal. Now, the fracture has healed, and the rod must be removed to help improve his strength and mobility. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, can help. On July 17th, Sue will undergo surgery to remove the rod, and he needs your support to fund this $1,500 procedure. Nyi is a 20-year-old young man from Burma. He lives with his grandparents and two younger siblings in Tak Province. Nyi works as seamstress and his grandparents are retired. His younger brother and younger sister are students. His father works in Bangkok to support the family, while his mother lives in the village. In 2025, Nyi started experiencing pain at the site where his heart is located, and also getting tired easily. He went to hospital where he was given some medication and referred to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. At the hospital, Nyi was advised to undergo an MRI, an imaging procedure that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce images of bodily organs. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose his condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $814 to cover the cost of Nyi's MRI and care, scheduled for May 19th.
