Meet Sakana, a one-year-old little girl from Cambodia who is loved by her mother and older sister. Sakana was born with a droopy left eyelid, a condition called blepharoptosis. If this condition is left untreated, it could affect her eyesight and cause blurred vision. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, shared with us that “her mother traveled five hours in hopes of a successful surgery." For $290 we can help fund the surgery to lift her left eyelid and improve her eyesight. Let's help this beautiful baby have a great start at life!

“I want to feel normal again. I have had this bad eye for three months and want it to stop so that I can do my job well again,” says Phou, a 49-year-old man from Cambodia. He is married with two children and farms beans and coconuts for a living. Recently, Phou was diagnosed with pterygium, or surfer's eye, in his right eye, which has caused his work to suffer. This condition causes redness, itching, burning, and blurred vision. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, tells us, “It is hard for Phou to work consistently because his eye is always bothering him.” $150 will cover the medication and operating costs necessary for treating Phou. Without proper care, he will have to continue working in pain. Together, we can help him feel comfortable again!

For the first five months of his life, Elton was healthy. He was able to move his arms and legs around freely and babble (to his mom's delight). But Elton's head circumference started to increase in size, and he became less active than he used to be. He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, an abnormal and potentially fatal accumulation of fluid in the brian. "We were all happy when Elton was born," his mom says. "It is our prayer that he will get well, have normal growth and eventually become an independent young man, helpful to us and the society as well." For $905, we can fund Elton's surgery and support his mom's dreams for him.

Meet Von, a 68-year-old man from Cambodia who has seven children and 15 grandchildren. Von has mature cataracts in both eyes. Children's Surgical Centre tells us, "Von's vision started to blur a year ago. Von had to stop working as a rice farmer and has had a hard time supporting his family." With rice planting season again approaching, Von is "eager to return to work and hopes the surgery will be a success." With renewed eyesight, he will be able to return to work as well as his hobbies, which include walking to the pagoda to hear the monks speak. Let's raise $100 for a cataract surgery for Von!

John is an eight-year-old boy with a bright future ahead of him. After losing his parents, John and his sister were placed in an orphanage. It was in the orphanage that his current caregiver, Maureen, noticed that John's knees were growing inward. John has a condition commonly called "knock knees." John's legs cause him pain and limping, but a simple surgery will straighten his legs and relieve his pain. With his right knee surgery already completed, John is half way on his journey towards straight legs. Now he needs treatment of his left knee. The surgery will cost $1,000 and it will be his last step in the journey towards a disability free life!

Sota was hit by a car in Cambodia four years ago and has been in pain ever since. A gardener and volleyball lover, 34-year-old Sota hasn't grown vegetables or played sports since the accident. Even worse, he's been unable to work in the rice fields to support himself like he used to. Sota needs a total hip replacement to restore his mobility and allow him to work again.
