This is Elizabeth, a 35-year-old sweet single lady from Kiambu. Elizabeth has two children, aged 12 and six, who she takes care of by selling green maize at the market.
“Her children’s needs are even more than she makes from her small business, but she has to manage with the little,” our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), tells us.
“Elizabeth has been experiencing irregular on and off bleeding,” continues AMHF. “She went to the gynecologist and a scan taken showed cancer of the cervix stage 1. The surgeon recommends she be treated with a radical hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to prevent spread of the cancer.”
For $790, we can fund Elizabeth’s hysterectomy.
“I am the only hope for my children,” Elizabeth explains. “I have to be well to take care of them and to see them grow to maturity. I hope this surgery will go well so that I can regain my health!”
