Vitou is a five-month-old baby boy from Cambodia. He is the only child in the family and lives in Svay Rieng Province with his parents. His father works as a factory worker, and his mother sells coffee. He enjoys playing with toy cars and dolls and likes drinking milk. Vitou was born with syndactyly of the right foot. This means that his toes are fused. It is difficult for him to wear shoes properly, which affects the movement of his big toe. As he grows, the condition may affect his ability to stand, walk, and use his foot normally. Fortunately, on July 20th, surgeons will perform a syndactyly repair procedure to separate and release the fused toes. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $462 to fund this procedure. After surgery, he will feel more comfortable and will be able to use his right foot more normally. The surgery will improve the shape and function of his foot, helping him wear shoes, stand, and walk more easily as he grows. Vitou's mother said, “We hope this surgery will help our son have a normal-looking foot so he can walk, play, and grow up confidently without feeling different from other children.”

Monny is a six-year-old student from Cambodia. She lives in Kandal Province with her parents and siblings. Her father is a car repairer and her mother sells snacks in front of a local factory. She is the middle child of three siblings and is currently studying in Grade 1. She enjoys playing dolls with her friends. Her favorite meal is Tom Yum soup, and she hopes to become a teacher in the future. For the past two months, Monny has been experiencing difficulty in breathing, snoring at night, sore throat, cough, and occasional vomiting. The symptoms affect her sleep quality and daily comfort. She experiences discomfort especially at night, which affects her energy and school activities Monny was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Monny, which is scheduled to take place on May 19th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Monny of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. Her mother said, “After the surgery, I hope my child will breathe and sleep better again, recover quickly, and be able to live happily and comfortably without pain or difficulty.”

Soy is a 65-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She lives in Kampong Speu Province with her husband. They have no children and earn their living by growing rice together. In her free time, she enjoys going to the pagoda and listening to monks prayers. In January 2025, Soy was involved in a road traffic accident that caused an open fracture of her right shin bone. She underwent surgery where doctors inserted a metal nail to stabilize the fractured bone. Her fracture has healed well, and she has regained normal movement and sensation. The metal implant is no longer needed and requires removal to complete her treatment. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 13th, Soy will undergo a surgical hardware removal procedure, allowing her to continue farming and carrying out her daily activities comfortably. Soy is contributing to her treatment but needs $353 more to fund the procedure. She said, “My leg has healed well, and I hope this final surgery is the last step. I’m looking forward to returning home, doing my daily work, and moving around with confidence again.”
