Meet Samson, a father to eight children in Kenya. His wife and kids farm maize and beans on his ¼ acre piece of land. His children did not proceed to secondary school due to lack of school fees and are thus not financially stable. Samson lives in a four roomed house together with his family. Samson is dependent on his wife as his hand was injured when he was attacked during a robbery in June 2012.
Samson sustained hand injury after his attack and received a debridement (removal of damaged tissues) on his right hand in the beginning of 2013. However, this procedure left him with damaged tendons and now Samson is not able to utilize his left hand. He cannot farm nor do physically demanding work with his hand. Samson was advised to have the tendons released in July 2013 but he did not receive the surgery due to lack of funds.
Samson will undergo tendon repair surgery at AIC Kijabe Hospital. Samson shared: “I want to have my hand treated to be able to provide for my family.”
