Precious is a 30-year-old mother of two children from Uganda. She earns a living through a small business selling children's clothes from house to house, while her husband depends on casual labor for income. During her free time, she enjoys playing with her children and telling them stories. For the past seven years, Precious has lived with a swelling in her lower abdominal area. Over time, the swelling has progressively increased in size and become increasingly painful. What began as a health concern has developed into a significant obstacle in her daily life. The pain and discomfort have made it difficult for her to move around freely while looking for customers, limiting her ability to earn an income. Even performing ordinary household chores has become challenging, leaving her increasingly worried about how she will care for her children and manage her home. Precious was referred to our medical partner's care center, Rushoroza Hospital. The findings revealed a dermoid cyst requiring surgical excision. On October 31st, Precious will undergo surgery with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. Now, Precious needs help to raise $261 to fund this procedure. Precious says, "For seven years, I have lived with this swelling, and the pain has made it difficult for me to move around and sell my clothes. This small business is how I try to provide for my children, but now even simple household work has become difficult. I have visited different health facilities hoping to find help, and I am relieved that the doctors at Rushoroza Hospital have identified a possible solution. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the cost of the operation because my business earns very little and my husband depends on casual work. Ly Huor is an 18-month-old boy from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Speu Province with his twin brother and his aunt, who is a rice farmer. His parents work in garment factories in the city. He enjoys playing with toys alongside his brother. During Khmer New Year 2026, Ly Huor accidentally spilled hot water on his right hand, causing burns to his third and fourth fingers. The burns healed with scar contractures, limiting the movement of his fingers and making it difficult for him to grasp and hold objects. His family is worried that the condition could affect his hand development and make it difficult for him to hold a pencil when he starts school. When Ly Huor's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On July 15th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve the movement of his fingers, helping him develop normal hand function so he can grasp objects, play, and learn more easily as he grows. Now, he needs help to fund this $652 procedure. Ly Huor's mother said, “It has been hard to see my son struggle to use his hand. I hope this surgery will improve his finger movement so he can grow, learn, and enjoy childhood like other children.”

Srey Neang is a 22-year-old factory worker from Prey Veng, Cambodia. She lives with her parents, who are rice farmers, and is the middle child of three siblings. Before her injury, she worked to help support her family. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music and watching movies. In April 2025, Srey Neang was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that caused an open fracture of her left femur. She lost consciousness for about 12 hours and was hospitalized for two weeks. Over the past year, she has undergone 10 surgeries, but the fracture became infected and developed chronic osteomyelitis. During her most recent operation, doctors placed an external fixator and antibiotic bone cement to control the infection. Despite these treatments, she continues to have drainage from the pin sites, a large bone defect in her left femur, pain, and difficulty walking. Srey Neang was referred to our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), for specialized care. On July 17th, she will undergo surgery to remove the antibiotic bone cement, perform bone grafting, reconstruct the femur with an external frame, and perform an osteotomy to gradually restore the missing bone. This complex limb reconstruction aims to eliminate the infection, promote new bone growth, improve her ability to walk, and help her return to work. However, she cannot afford the full cost of treatment and needs financial assistance to receive this life-changing surgery. Her family can contribute $25, but needs help raising $483 more to fund her procedure and care. Srey Neang said, “After so many surgeries, I never gave up hope. I am grateful for this opportunity and hope this treatment will finally help my leg heal so I can walk again, return to work, and enjoy a normal life.”
