Lemi is a cheerful, three-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves playing with other children and his siblings. His mother is a homemaker, and his father is a farmer who also works as a daily laborer during difficult seasons.
Lemi was born with a condition called Hirschprung’s disease. This is where a portion of the intestine does not have proper nerve function, affecting bodily functions. Shortly after he was born, he underwent colostomy surgery and continued with regular follow-ups. Unfortunately, he remained on the hospital’s waiting list for nearly two years without any update. His mother became increasingly distressed, worried about his future, praying constantly, and struggling daily to clean and care for his surgical wound.
Lemi’s mother learned about our medical partner’s care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre, and sought specialized care. Surgeons recommend surgery to remove the part of the intestine that is not working properly and reconnect the healthy intestine to restore proper bowel function.
Lemi is scheduled to undergo this surgery on November 27th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,500 to cover the cost of Lemi’s procedure and care.
Lemi’s mother said, “I pray for my child to grow healthy, and I wish every parent could have access to this kind of support and service.”
