Roeun is a 51-year-old farmer who is married with four sons and three daughters. In his free time, he likes to plant potatoes in his garden, listen to the news on the radio, and go fishing.
In January 2017, Roeun fractured his right knee during a fall. He went to a traditional Khmer healer for treatment, but his symptoms did not improve. It is difficult for Roeun to bend his knee, and he is in pain.
With his wife, Roeun traveled for eight hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, for treatment. On March 20, surgeons will perform an open reduction and internal fixation to realign the fracture back into the normal position.
With $411, we can help Roeun walk easily again!

Roeun received knee surgery.
Roeun’s treatment went well. Surgeons at CSC used hardware to stabilize the fracture site and then, following the procedure, applied a knee splint that Roeun used for two weeks before beginning gentle range of motion exercises. He was instructed to keep his right leg elevated and was given pain medication. Roeun is able to walk better on his own, and he does not experience any pain. He is scheduled for a follow-up appointment next month, however, if Roeun experiences any problems before then, he can always return to CSC for treatment.
Roeun says, “I can walk better now. Thanks to all of the staff and donors who have helped me.”
