Geoffrey is a 21-year-old young man from Kenya, who comes from a family of four children. Geoffrey studied up to Form 2, but was unable to continue with his education due to financial constraints. He has been doing casual labor at construction sites to support himself and his parents. His mother is a home maker, while his father also works as a casual laborer at construction sites.
Geoffrey sustained an accident when he slipped and fell from a lorry during work, resulting in an open fracture of the right leg. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where first aid treatment was administered. Thereafter, the family hired a tuk-tuk and brought him to our medical partner’s care center, where he was admitted to the surgical ward for further management.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On May 14th, Geoffrey will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This treatment will minimize the risk of complications such as infection, severe pain, and deformities. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,048 to fund this procedure.
Geoffrey said, “I will be very happy when I receive treatment for my condition. I am still young and would like to recover so that I can return to work and support my parents financially.”
