Siria is a child from Tanzania. He is the fifth born in a family of eight children. At home, Siria helps his family with day-to-day chores, such as herding cattle. Siria’s mother is a housewife and his father owns a small business of selling vegetables in the market.
Siria was diagnosed with genu varus. His legs are bent outward. This condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. As a result, he complains of pain and has trouble walking.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $940 to fund corrective surgery for Siria. The procedure is scheduled to take place on February 9. Treatment will hopefully restore Siria’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Siria’s father says, “Thank you so much for helping my son get this treatment. God bless you all.”
